With
the magic of Facebook, I was able to reconnect with one
of my former piano students, Kara White. Kara
graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College in Radiologic
Technology. She is employed at Earl K. Long Medical Center.
Besides being a wonderful piano student, Kara did something
very special. She came up with the name Kathy's Keyboards.
I was looking for a name for my club in the Louisiana
National Federation of Music Clubs and Kara suggested
it. The rest is history! Thanks, Kara! I still love it |
Last
year, I noticed on the New Orleans Saints website that
the People's Health organization had an award that
was given to people over 65 that have made a special
contribution to their community. I decided to nominate
Dad for his contribution in helping Rev. John Thomas'
church, Christ Fellowship of Leland build a new sanctuary
in the Leland area of Baker. We got a call saying that
Dad had won and would be honored at the Saints-49's
game on September 28. Everyone knows what a big Saints
fan I am and to stand right behind their bench on the
field was incredible, but the best part of the day
was seeing Dad hold his trophy up high. That to me
was one of those "take your breath away" moments.
It was a day that I will never forget! Click article

 A
heartfelt "THANK YOU" goes out to Stan Heine
and Louisiana Electric for their generous donation
to the Music Department of Galilee Baptist Academy
(where Kathy teaches music). The donation was made
in memory of Richard Heine, Stan's brother and Kathy's
cousin (shown right).
A
special plaque hangs at Galilee Baptist Academy acknowledging
this special gift. Thank you for your support of music
education!

My
Dad, former Baker Mayor Pete Heine is pictured here (center)
in an article published in the Baton Rouge Advocate. The
event was a social get-together held for Louisiana's 1973
Constitutional Convention delegates. |
Erin Peroyea played on the U12 Lady Tigers team
coached by Joey Hebert. The Lady Tigers won both the regular
season championship and the mid-season tournament championship.
Erin played both shortstop and pitcher this year.
Erin
has been a private student of Kathy's Keyboards for
three years. She received two gold cups this year;
one for Solo and one for Hymn in the National Festival.
Brother Charles just started taking lessons.
Well
done, Erin!

An
impressive violin and vocal performance was given by
Sarah DeWeese at her Senior Recital on 6/24/06. Congratulations
to Sarah on a job well done.
Kathy
accompanied Sarah on Mozart's 3rd Concerto for Piano
and Violin, 1st and 2nd Movement.

Shown
here is four-year-old Marsha Ann Savage in The Baton
Rouge Advocate newspaper (printed 2/26/06). Marsha
Ann and her sister Camila
are both private piano students of Kathy's Keyboards.
With
overwhelming
evidence
of music education boosting brain-power, it's no wonder
this bright youngster pours over these books with such
intensity (of course it is highly likely that Marsha
Ann had a jump-start in reading, as her family owns
the
popular
bookstore in St. Francisville: Thomas Savage, Bookseller).
